Our season typically begins late-April and runs throughout October, weather permitting.
Grand Banks is primarily a walk-in restaurant. We do, however, accept a very limited number of reservations (for parties up to 8), which may only be booked online only. To check availability, or to make, alter, or cancel a reservation please click here.
If you are unable to secure a reservation at your desired time or date, we encourage you to visit us anyway as we seat the majority of our dining guests as walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis.
For parties of 9 or more, we offer a number of special events options.
Best Hours to Get a Table
We tend to have smaller crowds before 5pm on weekdays and 2pm on weekends. We're also a bit slower after 8pm, which also happens to be one of the most magical times on the water.
Best Days to Visit
Everyday is different, but they do follow a pattern. Monday is the most relaxed and Saturday is the busiest. Typically we get busier as the week progresses, peaking on the weekend. If it is a particularly nice day, we'll be busier as well.
While Grand Banks is an outdoor venue, we do our best to remain open, even during bad weather. A general rule of thumb, unless it's storming heavily, we're open. Given that summer storms tend to pass quickly, whenever we do have to close due to weather, we reopen once the weather clears.
In the event that we have to close, there will be a banner notification on our website.
We are open on all holidays starting at 11:30 AM, unless a Saturday or Sunday, in which case we open at 10am.
Do We Set Sail?
No. Although we are on a sailboat, the boat remains at the dock.
There is no fee to board.
Grand Banks is located about the Sherman Zwicker, a large wooden schooner docked at the southwest edge of Pier 25. Once at the pier walk along the southern promenade towards the river, continuing past the mini-golf course and volleyball courts. Our entry will be found just before the viewing plaza at the end of the pier. (map)
The closest subway stops are the 1 at Franklin Street and the 1,2,3 or A,C at Chambers Street.
There is an Icon parking garage on Greenwich St. just south of N. Moore, and limited street parking on the northbound lane of West St.
Large Group Requests
We do not accept reservations for large groups, though we welcome you and your party to come aboard, drink at our bar, hang out on deck, and to be seated on a first come first served basis. Because of the arrangement of the deck of the boat, we cannot guarantee tables for groups larger than eight, nor can we guarantee that your entire party will be accommodated if your guests arrive after the boat is at capacity.
